Wow, what a day.
I would like to point out I am not usually a moody person, an optimist in fact always looking on the bright side but today there definitely was no sun to be seen.
I am sorry but correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it June...you know, the first month of summer? So what is this god awful weather about? Today probably wasn't the best of days to venture out to Snowdonia but my uncle, also a photographer like myself (but who doesn't have a phobia of rain and wind like me) had taken it upon himself to ignore all my pleas about moving it a day, not having the right footwear, being allergic to rain, decided we were going on this adventure.
I was beginning to wish I packed a canoe never mind my wellies, but then against all odds, I miraculously managed to produce some images that I was chuffed with.
My talented uncle took the opportunity to show me how to make fast flowing bodies of water become soft looking and feather like by focusing and prioritising my shutter speed, bringing it right down to 1/6 second. I don't usually photograph subjects like waterfalls and streams so this was all new to me but I really enjoyed making an ordinary subject's appearance become something slightly different. In some of the shots that I took, they looked quite similar to a watercolour painting because of the effect you achieve bringing the shutter speed down. I found that by choosing waterfalls that had tiers created more of an interesting photograph, adding more depth to the image.
